The Nature Conservancy, an international, nonprofit organization, has spent the last half-century dedicated to the preservation and protection of natural communities throughout the U.S., Latin America, Canada and the Asia/Pacific region. With the help of members and contributors, the organization’s Georgia chapter purchases, preserves, protects and holds natural habitats throughout the state until a government agency can assume the responsibility. Many of these habitats are in and around Georgia’s rivers and watersheds.
