Site encompasses most of tiny Plains, Georgia, birthplace of 39th US president. Boyhood home and former campaign headquarters in Plains Depot. High School attended by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter now museum and visitor center. Guided tours.

A visit to the site provides an opportunity to explore the historic resources and rural southern culture that had an influence in molding the character and political policies of Jimmy Carter.

The site includes: Plains High School, where Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter attended school and which is now a museum and visitor center; the Historic District of Plains; the Plains Train Depot; Jimmy Carter’s Boyhood Farm; and the Carter Private Residence and Compound, which is not open to the public.
