Frontier Village | Fort Gaines, Georgia
Frontier Village in Fort Gaines dominates what is called Bluff Park, a small area adjacent to a spectacular bluff that overlooks the Chattahoochee River and the flat plains of Alabama beyond. The site served as a frontier fort in 1814 and an Indian fort in 1836.
Most of the buildings in Frontier Village are at least a century old, and most have been donated by former owners and moved from various parts of Clay County.
Erected in 1988-89 by the artist Phillip Andrews, the Otis Micco statute overlooks the bluff and the bridge to Alabama. Micco is a famous Native American overwhelmed by American forces in the early days of Fort Gaines.
