The Big Pig Jig, held every November in a specially-constructed “Barbecue Village” along I-75 began in 1982 and has grown bigger and more varied every year since into a festival named twice by the American Bus Association as one of the Top 100 Events in America. It is the state’s oldest, and Georgia’s “Official” barbecue cooking contest. Ellis Brothers Pecans “We’re Nuts” billboard has been luring intrigued travelers off I-75 at Exit 109 and into their retail pecan store for over three decades and pleasing their pecan-craving pallets as a result. Turkey Creek Outfitters leads hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts through the beautiful Flint River Wildlife Management Area and other environmentally diverse areas. Built in 1891, the Dooly County Courthouse is one of the most architecturally interesting in Georgia and is the scenic center of a pleasant walk through downtown Vienna.
