In addition to seeing the landscape that inspired so much of Flannery O’Connor’s fiction, visitors to Andalusia Farm may enter the Main House and view Flannery O’Connor’s room, the dining room, the front hallway, the kitchen, the north corner addition, and the gift shop. All guests are encouraged to stay and watch the PBS video production of O’Connor’s story, “The Displaced Person,” which was filmed on location at Andalusia in 1976. Photographs are permitted anywhere on the farm complex but are prohibited inside the Main House.

While living at Andalusia, O’Connor completed “Wise Blood,” which was published in 1952. Then her highly acclaimed collection of short stories, “A Good Man Is Hard To Find,” was published in 1955. She also wrote another novel, “The Violent Bear It Away,” published in 1960.

Hi, when I was in 9th grade (1980), my English teacher showed us a short film of “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” and I can’t find mention of it anywhere. I’m beginning to believe I imagined it, but I’m sure I didn’t. Does anyone know of any film version of the story from the ‘70’s, or perhaps 1980-1981 that exists? Not “Wise Blood,” not “Displaced Person.” Thank you!
